The plot revolves around a middle aged women, Anshu, the protagonist of the novel, who faces difficulty in sleeping and hence decides to get treated at Ayurvedic ashram in Kerala at Shanthamaaya Sthalam.
Over the years, Anshu had been a regular patient seeking Dr. Menon's Ayurvedic Therapies. But this time however, for her 28 days treatment in here she is intercepted by her ex-husband with his young wife which in turn floods her mind with millions of memories with her husband.
In our course of reading novel at some instances we will commiserate Anshu for taking some inappropriate decisions but one thing that stays lucid about her throughout the novel is that her being a resilient women.
Below is the conversation that she has with her ex-husband (Jay) when he comes to meet her.
Yes, Jay, tell me Why are you here with me?
Before he could say any thing, answers like we were on Kaun Banega Crorepati began popping in my mind.
A. Nostalgia B.I was bored and you happened to be here C. Regret D. A song.
It also shows peculiar sisiter-sister bond. Below mentioned plot depicts how much Anshu relied on her sister (Mandira) and her love for her...
It was Mandira how left her husband, her son and even her eight month old baby and came to Bombay to help me. She took all the scattered pieces of my fragmenting mind and coaxed them back together. She dragged me to a psychiatrist and even a faith healer to drive evil spirits away. But fundamentally, she helped me recover just by being there for me.
Ahead in story a gay couple tells Anshu about their love tale and how they got together.. That's when Anshu says..
Here was bond that had been bludgeoned by social pressure, the law, guilt and batty relatives not to mention the added burden of religious differences.. yet it had survived, while mine with all conventional props, including the blessings of both god and government, had self destructed in one- third the time.
So a perfect love story! Romeo met Romeo, and nobody died in the end..!
In the end when the truth unturns and all the drama comes to end 😂 Anshu says..
The world is full of people with their masks on and their gloves off. I had been foolish not to have expected Jay to be one of them.
So it's a short, humorous, quick and easy read with predictable and wise ending..
It basically revolves around love, marriage, infidelity and longing.
It passes out a good message that love is beautiful, but being head over heels for someone to a extend wherein you lose your identity and self worth is just not something we should bend for..
yes.., it's best to just drop out of it and not to lose self worth..
"Pyjamas are forgiving in nature, it's jeans that really know how to hold a grudge.."😂
